Xylitol, Stevia and Preservatives in Sugar Reset: The Other Ingredients
Beyond its actives, Sugar Reset lists nine other ingredients: glycerin, water, organic lemon extract, stevia extract (Reb A), xylitol, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, citric acid and natural flavors. They sweeten, flavor and preserve the liquid without sugar. No amounts are printed. The main caution is xylitol, which can drop a dog's blood sugar fast.

The base of the liquid
What are the other ingredients in Sugar Reset?
The other ingredients are the base that holds the actives: a sweet liquid, two sweeteners, two preservatives, an acid and flavors. The label lists nine of them, after the Supplement Facts box, with no amounts.
The sales page does not mention any of them. That is normal for a base. These nine also sit outside the 200 mg proprietary blend, so the blend math that caps each herb does not apply, and nobody outside the maker knows how much of each a dropper holds.

Xylitol
Is the xylitol in Sugar Reset safe for people?
For people, xylitol is a common sugar-free sweetener, and FDA notes it does not trigger insulin release in humans (FDA, Xylitol and dogs). It shows up in sugar-free gum, mints and liquid supplements.
One 2024 study followed 2,149 people. Those with the highest blood xylitol had a higher 3-year rate of major heart events. In 10 healthy volunteers, a xylitol drink raised blood xylitol sharply and made platelets more reactive (Witkowski, Eur Heart J 2024).
The study shows a link, not cause and effect, and the authors call for more safety research. The label does not print how much xylitol a dropper holds.
If you have heart disease or were told to limit sugar alcohols, bring the label to your next visit.
Pets
Why is xylitol in Sugar Reset dangerous for dogs?
In dogs, xylitol causes a strong burst of insulin and a fast, deep drop in blood sugar. Signs can start within 10 to 60 minutes and can be life-threatening (FDA, Xylitol and dogs).
Call a veterinarian right away, even if the dog seems fine. Watch for vomiting, weakness, staggering, collapse or seizures. FDA lists dietary supplements among the products that may contain xylitol (FDA, Xylitol and dogs).
Safe handling
How do you keep Sugar Reset drops away from pets and kids?
Four habits, each tied to a line on the label. Scroll through them.
- 01
Check the seal first
Shake the bottle and look at the safety seal. If the seal is damaged or missing, the label says not to use it.
- 02
Fill the dropper over the sink
A sink catches sweet drips before they reach the floor, where a dog can lick them.
- 03
Swallow, then wipe up
Place it in your mouth and swallow, as the label says. Wipe stray drops off the counter.
- 04
Cap it and store it high
Close the cap tight. Keep it away from heat, light and humidity, in a cabinet that children and pets cannot reach.
The label's storage and child-safety lines protect pets too. Full dosing steps are on the how to use page.

Order nowStevia
What kind of stevia is in Sugar Reset?
The label lists "Stevia Extract 97% (Reb A)." Reb A, short for rebaudioside A, is one of the sweet compounds in the stevia leaf. A 97% extract meets the 95% purity level that FDA has accepted in GRAS notices (FDA, Sweeteners).
That matters, because FDA does not consider stevia leaf or crude extracts GRAS, only purified forms (FDA, Sweeteners).
- Steviol glycosides are 200 to 400 times sweeter than sugar, so a tiny amount goes a long way (FDA, Sweeteners).
- The acceptable daily intake is 4 mg per kg of body weight, as steviol equivalents (FDA, Sweeteners): about 280 mg for a 70 kg (154 lb) adult, by our math.
- The amount per dropper is not printed, so the real intake is unknown.
The blend also holds a licorice compound, covered on the licorice and amino acids page.
Preservatives
Are sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate safe in Sugar Reset?
Yes, within normal food limits: both are long-used preservatives with GRAS status under good manufacturing practice (21 CFR 184.1733) (21 CFR 182.3640). They slow mold and bacteria in a liquid you open every day.
Sodium benzoate
The sodium salt of benzoic acid, used to fight microbes. Current use in food results in at most 0.1 percent, per the federal rule (21 CFR 184.1733).
Potassium sorbate
A common preservative in drinks, cheese and baked goods. Generally recognized as safe within good manufacturing practice (21 CFR 182.3640).
Citric acid
Adds tartness and keeps the liquid acidic, which helps the preservatives work.
Every time the dropper goes in and out, it can carry in microbes, so a preservative in a dropper bottle makes sense.

FAQ
Sugar Reset sweeteners and preservatives FAQ
Is there xylitol in Sugar Reset?
Yes. Xylitol is listed among the other ingredients, after stevia and before sodium benzoate. The amount is not printed. In people it does not trigger insulin release, but in dogs it can cause a fast, dangerous drop in blood sugar, so keep the bottle out of a pet's reach.
What sweetener does Sugar Reset use?
Two: stevia extract 97% (Reb A) and xylitol, a sugar alcohol. Glycerin, the first other ingredient, also tastes sweet. No sugar is listed. The purified stevia meets the 95% purity level in GRAS notices that FDA did not question.
Is Sugar Reset sugar free?
The label lists no sugar, and its Supplement Facts box shows no carbohydrate or calorie lines at all. Sweetness comes from stevia, xylitol and glycerin. If you track every gram of carbohydrate, email the distributor for a nutrition breakdown, since the label does not give one.
What happens if my dog licks Sugar Reset drops?
Call a veterinarian right away. Sugar Reset contains xylitol, and FDA says xylitol can drop a dog's blood sugar within 10 to 60 minutes. Signs include vomiting, weakness, staggering, collapse and seizures.
Why does Sugar Reset contain sodium benzoate?
It is a preservative. A water-based liquid opened every day can grow mold or bacteria, and sodium benzoate helps prevent that. It is affirmed as GRAS within good manufacturing practice, and current food use results in at most 0.1 percent.
Is the xylitol in Sugar Reset bad for your heart?
Nobody knows for this product. A 2024 study linked the highest blood xylitol levels with more heart attacks and strokes over 3 years, but it showed an association, not cause. Ask your clinician if you have heart disease.
