The Licorice Compound and 8 Amino Acids in Sugar Reset
The last nine places in Sugar Reset's 200 mg blend hold monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, a licorice compound, and eight amino acids. None is mentioned on the sales page. By label order each is at most about 9 to 14 mg per serving, far below studied doses. Glycyrrhizin can cause high blood pressure and heart rhythm problems, and L-arginine can interact with some heart medicines.

The ingredients
What are the licorice compound and amino acids in Sugar Reset?
They are the last nine of the 22 ingredients in the proprietary blend. One is a licorice compound. The other eight are amino acids and close relatives.
They fill places 14 to 22. The label spells one of them "L-Typtophan," a typo for L-tryptophan.
The sales page names none of these nine (Sugar Reset sales page, October 2026), but the label prints them all. Read the full panel on the Sugar Reset Supplement Facts page.

|---|---|
| What it is | A salt of glycyrrhizin from licorice root, plus protein building blocks and related nutrients |
| Type | Never mentioned on the sales page |
| Position on the label | 14 to 22 of 22 in the blend: the smallest shares |
| Amount per serving | Not printed (licorice at most about 11 mg; amino acids at most about 14 mg down to 9 mg each) |
| What research shows | Glycyrrhizin can cause heart rhythm problems; food supplies far more of each amino acid |
| Strength of evidence | A safety flag and tiny amounts, not a benefit |
| Why it is in the formula (brand view) | Probably sweetness, flavor and a longer list |
| Main caution | Licorice: ask first if you have high blood pressure, heart or kidney disease. L-arginine with nitrates or sildenafil can drop blood pressure too low. |

Licorice
What is monoammonium glycyrrhizinate in Sugar Reset?
It is a salt of glycyrrhizin, a compound from licorice root. It is eighteenth of 22, so a serving holds at most about 11 mg.
Glycyrrhizin is not a harmless flavor. NCCIH says it can cause serious effects, including irregular heartbeat and cardiac arrest (NCCIH, Licorice). Even small amounts have been linked to severe effects in people with high blood pressure.
Talk to your clinician before taking Sugar Reset if you have high blood pressure, heart rhythm problems, heart disease or kidney disease. Large amounts of licorice are also unsafe in pregnancy.

Cautions
Which amino acids in Sugar Reset carry cautions?
L-arginine
Mayo Clinic says L-arginine with nitrates or sildenafil may drop blood pressure too low (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). It may also lower blood sugar. It is not recommended after a recent heart attack. More on lows is in our post on supplements and diabetes medicines.
L-tryptophan
By August 1990, CDC had 1,536 reports of eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome and 27 deaths in L-tryptophan users (CDC MMWR, L-tryptophan EMS 1990). FDA recalled products of 100 mg a day or more in 1989. By March 1990 the recall covered any dose. Sugar Reset holds at most about 10 mg per serving.

FAQ
Licorice and amino acids in Sugar Reset: FAQ
Which licorice ingredient does Sugar Reset contain?
A licorice compound. The label lists monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, a salt of glycyrrhizin from licorice root, eighteenth in its 200 mg blend. That puts it at no more than about 11 mg per 1 mL. The sales page does not mention it.
Is glycyrrhizin safe for people with high blood pressure?
It calls for caution. NCCIH says even small amounts of glycyrrhizin have been linked to severe effects in people with high blood pressure, and it can cause irregular heartbeat. Talk to your clinician before taking Sugar Reset if you have high blood pressure or heart or kidney disease.
What amino acids are in Sugar Reset?
Eight: L-glutamine, L-tyrosine, L-arginine, beta-alanine, GABA, L-ornithine, L-tryptophan and L-carnitine. They sit in places 14 to 22 of the blend, along with the licorice compound, so each is at most about 9 to 14 mg per serving.
Can L-arginine interact with heart medicines?
Yes. Mayo Clinic warns that L-arginine with nitrates for chest pain or with sildenafil may drop blood pressure too low, and it may add to blood pressure drugs. Sugar Reset holds at most about 13 mg per serving.
Is the L-tryptophan in Sugar Reset dangerous?
The amount is tiny, at most about 10 mg per serving. L-tryptophan products were linked to an illness outbreak in 1989, and FDA recalled them. Our sources do not show harm at amounts this small.
How much carnitine is in Sugar Reset?
At most about 9 mg per 1 mL, since L-carnitine is last of 22 in the blend. Trials that found glucose changes used 250 mg to 4,000 mg a day. Healthy people also make their own.
