Chromium for Blood Sugar: What 0.7 mcg and 2% of the Daily Value Really Mean
Adults need about 20 to 35 mcg of chromium a day, and the Daily Value is 35 mcg. Sugar Reset lists 0.7 mcg per 1 mL serving, or 0.7 to 1.4 mcg a day at 1 or 2 droppers if a dropper holds about 1 mL. That is 2% to 4% of the Daily Value. Chromium trials for blood sugar are inconsistent.

The mineral
What is chromium, and how much do adults need?
Chromium is an essential trace mineral. Adults need only a small amount each day, and most get it from food.
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements sets Adequate Intakes of 20 to 35 mcg a day for adults, depending on age and sex. The Daily Value on supplement labels is 35 mcg (NIH ODS, Chromium).
Sugar Reset lists "Chromium (as chromium picolinate) 0.7 mcg" per serving. It is one of the six ingredients the sales page names, and the only one with a printed amount (Sugar Reset sales page, October 2026).
Daily needs
How much chromium do men and women need each day?
Needs drop a little after age 50. Compare each with what Sugar Reset adds.
| Group | Adequate Intake | Sugar Reset at 2 droppers |
|---|---|---|
| Men 19 to 50 | 35 mcg a day | 4% |
| Women 19 to 50 | 25 mcg a day | About 6% |
| Men over 50 | 30 mcg a day | About 5% |
| Women over 50 | 20 mcg a day | 7% |
The percentages are our math: 1.4 mcg divided by each Adequate Intake. At 1 dropper a day, cut each share in half.
Dose check
How much chromium does Sugar Reset give you per day?
0.7 mcg at 1 dropper, 1.4 mcg at 2. Switch between them to see the rest of the day's numbers.
| African mango | up to 100 mg |
|---|---|
| Green tea | up to 57 mg |
| Gymnema | up to 50 mg |
| Panax ginseng aerial | up to 33 mg |
Assumes a full dropper is about 1 mL, the label's serving size; the label does not say how much a dropper holds. Ceilings come from label order, not a lab test. Chromium figures (NIH ODS, Chromium); gymnema's typical dose (LiverTox, Gymnema). Never more than 2 droppers a day.
The label says "Take 1 or 2 droppers full daily" and lists a serving size of 1 mL. It never says how much a dropper holds, so every daily figure here assumes about 1 mL. See the full routine on the how to use page.
Label math
What does 2% of the Daily Value mean on a label?
It means one serving gives 2% of the 35 mcg Daily Value. That is 0.7 mcg. Two servings give 4%, or 1.4 mcg.
To picture it, 50 servings would be needed to reach 35 mcg. The label limits you to 2 a day, so chromium in Sugar Reset stays a trace amount by design. Do not take more than the label allows to chase a number.
A percent Daily Value lets you compare products at a glance. At 2% to 4%, the chromium in Sugar Reset covers a small slice of one day's need at either dose.
The studies
Does chromium help blood sugar?
The research is mixed. The NIH says trials of chromium for blood sugar are inconsistent. A 2019 review of 58 trials found slight drops in fasting glucose and HbA1c, but of unclear clinical meaning (NIH ODS, Chromium).
FDA allows only a qualified health claim about chromium and insulin resistance, and it calls that link highly uncertain (NIH ODS, Chromium). The ADA's 2026 Standards of Care say chromium and other micronutrient supplements are not recommended for blood sugar benefit (ADA, Standards of Care 2026).
So even a full chromium supplement has weak support, and Sugar Reset holds a sliver of the Daily Value. The same pattern shows up with its gymnema, covered in our post on gymnema research.

Order nowLabel rules
Why is chromium the only amount printed on Sugar Reset?
Because labeling rules require it. FDA says nutrients with a Daily Value, such as chromium, must be listed separately with their own amount, even when a proprietary blend is on the same label (FDA, Labeling guide).
The other 22 ingredients sit in the blend, where only the total weight, 200 mg, must be printed. That is why the label shows 0.7 mcg for chromium but no number for gymnema, maca or guarana.

Read every line on the Supplement Facts page.
Safety
Can chromium cause low blood sugar with diabetes medicines?
It can add to them. The NIH says chromium may add to the glucose-lowering effect of insulin and other diabetes drugs, which raises the risk of low blood sugar (NIH ODS, Chromium). The amount in Sugar Reset is tiny, but tell your clinician about every supplement.
For many people with diabetes, a low is a reading below 70 mg/dL. Shakiness, hunger, dizziness or confusion need treatment right away (NIDDK, Hypoglycemia).

FAQ
Chromium dose questions
How much chromium should I take a day for blood sugar?
No amount is recommended for blood sugar. The ADA's 2026 Standards of Care say chromium supplements are not recommended for glycemic benefit. For general health, adults need about 20 to 35 mcg a day, and most get that from food.
Is 0.7 mcg of chromium a lot?
No. It is 2% of the 35 mcg Daily Value. Sugar Reset lists 0.7 mcg per 1 mL serving, so 1 or 2 droppers a day add 0.7 to 1.4 mcg, assuming a dropper holds about 1 mL. The label does not say how much one holds.
What is chromium picolinate?
It is a form of the trace mineral chromium used in supplements, shown in the brand's photo as a reddish powder. Sugar Reset lists its chromium as chromium picolinate, 0.7 mcg per serving, on its own line outside the blend.
Does chromium lower A1C?
Not in a clear way. A 2019 review of 58 trials found slight reductions in fasting glucose and HbA1c of unclear clinical significance, according to the NIH. FDA calls the link between chromium and insulin resistance highly uncertain.
Can chromium interact with diabetes medication?
Yes. The NIH says chromium may add to the glucose-lowering effect of insulin and other diabetes drugs, raising the risk of low blood sugar. Tell your clinician about any chromium product and watch for readings below 70 mg/dL.
What does percent Daily Value mean for chromium?
It shows how much of the 35 mcg Daily Value one serving gives. Sugar Reset's 2% means 0.7 mcg per serving. Two servings a day give 4%, still a small slice of what adults need.
